Google Maps

When google maps was mentioned in class, I probably spent about 2 hours searching the map for all different kinds of places from landmarks to friends houses. It was absolutly entertaining to search throughout the US, even looking at place I have never been, like Florida. Suprisingly no one else who came by my dorm room had ever been on the site either, and everyone wants to get on and find their house at least. Even now i still go back once in a while and check out different spots in Califorina mostly, places maybe that Im planning on going to. I even hope that soon they will have most of the world completed one day, because I would love to zoom in on places like South America, Africa, and Europe the way you can with pretty much the entire US. With my house, i can actually see my car in the driveway, the zoom it that good. Imagine being able to get this with the entire world, however I wonder how technology like this can be internationally accepted, as it could be some kind of homeland security breach, however one would think the US would be less likly to accept these pictures to be taken and then accessable to the public.

Week 3 Homework: Problem Solving

Pro and con method: Should I stay inside and study or go out with friends?

Going Out:

Pros:
1. Have fun
2. Make new friends (maybe some in my class)
3. Get recreational time, break from studing

Cons:
1. Waste valuable study time
2. Be less prepared for class
3. Get lower grades
4. Less motivated to study next time, more likly to skip studying more often

Staying Home:

Pros:
1. Better Grades and more preared for class
2. Will have more fun next time going out knowing classes are going well
3. Get better routine for study/recreational time

Cons:
1. Mighr not get work done because of thinking about fun I could be having
2. No fun, no new friends
3. May become obsessed with school work if no recreational time is taken
4. Overstudy myself because of lack of fun activities

Week 2 blog

Today I have now learned, but more importantly better understood the reasons behind blogging and why it can be a useful tool in learning as well as in a social setting. A blog utilizes an effective communication tool, the internet, to enable people to disscuss different topics in a very organized, effective, and overall powerful method. Imagine if there was a room with thousands of people communicating all at the same time in the real world. Thus the usefulness of a blog is apparent. Perhaps the most unclear subject of today is where it is that we are going with all of this. While two of our new text books focus on one basic idea, problem solving, the other deals with a broad subject, seemingly the ties between technology and our social lives, and the changes technology is making on the world in general.
